Buckley once wrote about workers needing to take jobs instead of taking government support. I wrote to him and said I never met a person who did not want to work. He wrote back and thanked me for this perception.
Government steps in when the free enterprize system fails its social contract with the people. Today we have people like Gates talking about keeping government out of business but Gates is now calling Congress to pass laws to bring in high tech workers after more than a million workers have lost their jobs in the computer industry.
