NC GOP Ad Attacks Obama, Perdue, Moore
The North Carolina Republican Party launched a TV ad today trying to link the endorsements of Lt. Gov. Bev Perdue and Treasurer Richard Moore of Senator Barack Obama to the extremism of Obama pastor Jerimiah Wright. North Carolina GOP leaders are attempting to make the case that Obama and his supporters are out of touch with the mainstream of North Carolina voters.
The ad immediately sparked comment from presumptive GOP nominee John McCain who called for the ad to be pulled off the air.
"The television advertisement you are planning to air degrades our civics and distracts us from the very real differences we have with the Democrats," he wrote. "In the strongest terms, I implore you to not run this advertisement."
The News and Observer
I personally do not find this ad to be offensive in any manner and would expect the Democrats to do the same if McCain was found to be closely tied to a pastor with such views.

Sen. John McCain / Rev. John Hagee
The endorsement of Senator John McCain by a Catholic-bashing Texas minister won swift rebuke from the president of the Catholic League and a Jewish leader concerned about his “vicious and inflammatory” anti-Catholicism.

Perhaps John McCain's quick call for the ad to be pulled is because of his ties with pastor John Hagee who has made anti-Catholic statements. McCain may fear such an ad in the heavily Catholic industrial midwest and in the west where Catholic Latino Americans are a crucial voting block this fall.
